We're in Arcata, CA north of Eureka.
Every bit of the 175 miles we had left of the Oregon coast proved to be a wet day, maybe soggy would be a better description to use. As soon as we crossed the California stateline, the fog still lingered but the rain stopped. It may have been wet but the fog did add great effect to the ocean making it eerie and with the Redwoods, absolutely majestic.
Tomorrow we begin the 2600 miles east back to WV. First stop will be Reno NV then wait till morning to cross the deserts of Nevada on Rt 50. We can stay on 50 all the way to WV but we're not sure if we're staying on it the entire way or not, see what happens.
Some pix from today.
The 300 miles we rode today
The water tasted salty
Livingston
A perfect setting for a ghost ship or humanoids from the deep
The clouds were steady and full all day
Some of the fog we dealt with
Canopy of trees
And on to the wonderful Redwoods.
Wonderful trees that touch the sky
Some looked as if hit by lightening or fire. Something hot hit a few of them.
The forest was prehistoric feeling... Cos I know what prehistoric feels like.
Mom and a tree that may be 2000 years old.
These things are HUGE. Said to reach heights of 360 feet or even more
Looking up
Took a nice enjoyable walk in the forest. I'm glad of the mist hanging around.
