In Yachats, Oregon

We're back in the continental US and boy was Seattle's evening rush hour a reminder and the serenity of the north feels loooooong gone. We left Vancouver alone, or as a few Canadians we talked to called it Hong Couver and rode straight for the border. If we have no reason or can't help going through a metropolis we don't.

We're currently on US 101 on the Oregon seashore heading to the Redwoods of northern California before we head towards the east.

The only stops we made in Seattle were RideWest BMW for a front tire and the Boeing Museum of Flight. Ridewest did have a tire waiting on me but no scheduled service appointment. Since we're traveling they made a spot available and to help speed things up and to show our appreciation, we removed the wheel in the parking lot so they wouldn't have to deal with the bike.

The Museum of Flight was cool and I love how they had the displays set up. To display actual planes, rockets and space equipment, a pretty large building or buildings were required and they did a heck of a job.

Last night in Lincoln City we inspected a rattle from the Harley finding the rear sprocket busted with the belt barley hanging on which led to a morning and afternoon of hanging out at Salem Harley. We got there before they actually opened and again got taken care of on the spot, once again, since we were traveling. There wasn't a sprocket in the state of Oregon so they dismantled a bike in the storeroom for the needed piece. They had a get together going on (Store Sale) so we had stuff to do and people to watch while we waited the 5-6 hours.

Our route since the last post

I have to start with this one as it just made my day. Since we departed with our brazilian friend Casper in Fairbanks, we've wondered how's doing and if all was well. Riding down the I-5 in Seattle after we left the BMW shop, a car pulls up next to me honking wildly and the driver yelling out the window pointing to his passenger. Lo and behold, Casper is the passenger!

A fellow whose name we didn't get. One of the many bicyclist we've seen while on the road. He was coming from Seattle and heading to LA. East of Astoria, OR

A great ride from this afternoon heading from Salem back to the coast on Rt 223 from the Harley shop.

Dad acknowledging his anchor known as Oregon.

Beautiful fields heading towards Salem this morning.

At the Harley shop. A good number people shown up to mill about.

A great bumper sticker.

Riding 101.

About to reach warp speed

Dog on the beach

A kite of course

On the Pacific. Remember this spot Zach?

Crusty-ations on the beach rocks.

These things pop like bubble packing.

In the Air Force One plane at the museum. I wonder if any presidential boogers remain on the handset or dial?

Nixon, eat your heart out.

The museum closed and had to leave.

Outside

installing wheel with new tire in the BMW parking lot.

Seattle traffic and a tractor-trailer sideways on I-5. Thank goodness for the HOV lane.

Downtown Seattle does looks beautiful but this glimpse was enough for us.

I definitely don't miss this routine

An MG-A. Dad restored one of these and Anika and I learned to drive stick on MG-B's.

Another fun sign. Sumas, WA

Almost to home ground. I shall return BC.

Some foliage on trail to Alexandra Bridge.

CN train. We got them to toot every once in a while.

Just because it's pretty

SMASH

And taking a break. The owner was from Vancouver, he told us not to bother. We didn't argue. I'd rather see more cows and mountains than skyscrapers and buses.

Travels are going great and all is well. Looking forward to some desert scenery in a few days and hoping to get back to using the tent. Till next time!
