It's 11pm in Fort Nelson and it now looks like dusk is approaching. It will probably be dawn before 5am as it was in Grande Prairie south of here.
Here's bits of the Alaskan Highway we've done, maybe 350 miles or so from Grande Prairie, Alberta to Fort Nelson B.C. that we did yesterday. Still about 800+ (?) miles to the Alaskan state line.
Leaving Dawson Creek. I know what you're thinking Edwin.
Beautiful and the road goes on and on. Like the U.P., it can be hypnotizing and you find yourself zoning out.
We jumped on the old ALCAN road thinking it would be longer than it actually was. We did get to ride over an old curved bridge with wooden planks.
Thought this was a ditched car as we were approaching, as we slowly passed we saw 2 people inside. I made a louie and circled back. It was a guy and a gal sitting inside. I asked if they were alright and if they needed a phone. They said another passerby let them make a phone call and were waiting on a wrecker and they were alright but lucky. The ditch is deeper than the picture seems and the car was wedged in.
I can't imagine how long they will wait or the cost, but they're safe.
Road side fix for a floppy and busted speedo lens.
Black bear coming out of the tree line.
Some of the busted road about to be resurfaced. There were only a few spots of the 350 miles we have traveled that was sketchy.
Dust and dirt Harley, not the norm.
Sky and road.
Traveling Mac
Road side stops. This one was in the middle of updating to a 'modern' convenience store.
We will be departing shortly, heading back north on the ALCAN. Still have a good bit of distance before Alaska, but I'm looking forward to Yukon Territory just because it's the Yukon Territory.
Definately envious. Better bring us back more than a t-shirt :) Love yall!!
